Inspiration
Radha and Krishna are collectively known within Hinduism as the combined forms of both, feminine and masculine realities of God. They say that Krishna enchants the world, but Radha enchants even him. Therefore, she is the supreme goddess of all and together they are called Radha-Krishna. Krishna grew up as a cow herder and also goes by the names Govinda and Gopala, which also mean “protector of cows”, this is why he is often depicted with cows. In this captivating Rajasthani-style wooden painting, Lord Krishna is depicted playing the flute, radiating divine charm and serenity. Beside him, Radha plays the sitar, her graceful presence complementing Krishna's celestial music. The scene is further enriched by the presence of gentle cows, symbolizing pastoral tranquillity and the sacred bond with Krishna. Surrounding them, lotuses bloom, representing purity and spiritual enlightenment. Encasing this divine tableau is an intricately designed wooden lattice, its detailed patterns enhancing the painting with traditional craftsmanship. This artwork beautifully captures the idyllic and sacred essence of Krishna and Radha's eternal love, framed by the timeless beauty of Rajasthani artistry.
